The answer is not to force your athletes to buy credit. It is an inhibitor to making a purchase and it complicates accounting. I answer is for Wodify to fix this feature or depending on your perspective add a new option to charge the athlete once a month or if they reach a threshold that you can specify. So if they reach $24 in purchases, go ahead and run the charge. If they only buy 1 FitAid for $3, wait until the end of the month.
The other issue with the Self-Service Point-of-Sale is that most athletes do not know their password. Wodify assigns users a random password and does not force them to change their password. They enter it once into their iPhone or computer and it is saved for them, but they do not remember it. They are not able to check themselves out if they do not know their password. On top of this, Wodify does not prompt the user for their PIN prior to entering the SS POS so they add all these items to their cart and THEN realize they cannot check out because they do not know their password and have not set a PIN yet. And in addition, Wodify displays the last four digits of the credit card on file for any user searched on prior to prompting for a password or PIN. This is a major issue.
For these two reasons alone, I suspect that 90% of the gyms using Wodify do not use the Self-Service Point-of-Sale feature and still use a clipboard. I would hope Wodify has a statistic on how many gyms use the SS POS on a regular basis.
I would also like to see Wodify enable this on the end-user smart phone apps. If they are logged in with their userid and password on the app on their phone, they should be able to check themselves out on their phone. They should not have to enter their name nor their password since they will be logged into the app with their userid and password.
Thanks for posting this idea Ian. Glad to hear it is coming. I have been pushing for this as part of a bigger idea. The two monitors with keyboard and mouse are a real bottleneck especially when one class is ending and the next class is beginning. I created a suggestion (link below) that there be an Affiliate Wodify app for iPad kiosks that could be mounted at various locations throughout the gym. The two monitors with keyboard and mouse are for the coaches. The iPad kiosks are for the athletes. The main menu on the iPad interface should be 1. Check-in 2. Record Results 3. Self Checkout. The interface needs to be part of the Wodify app if you want to be able to use the iPad credit card swiper. I suppose if you had an HP Slate that probably has a USB and you could use the USB swiper and a web browser, but the iPad swiper will not work with Safari.
We plan to begin implementing new Family specific features in 2017 that will address this idea.
We also offer childcare at two workouts each day. It has really grown in popularity and we are now in need of a way to manage the number of kids that parents are bringing, including the ages of the kids.
I was thinking of creating a separate program in Wodify called Childcare and defining all the children as Athletes. Then I could ask parents to reserve a spot for their kids in the WOD. We would have to pay for the kids to be Athletes in Wodify. Parents would have to log in with each of their kids individual IDs which would be a huge pain for them. The number of kids is not the only factor either. It is the age of the kids as well. A 6-month-old takes more work than a 5 year old.

5. List of Athletes with Session Plans with less than 2 sessions left.
I would like to see a daily management email sent to specific users (perhaps a membership manager role) and/or dashboard with some helpful daily and weekly views of the following
1. List of the athletes who have not been in the gym in X days
2. List of the athletes with no membership plan
3. List of the athletes with a membership that is expiring soon or has expired
4. List of the athletes that have an expired credit card.
I would also love to see a way to track users who I as the owner have not checked in with in X days. It is great that the new email feature will add a record to the Activity for the user. If there is no Activity recorded for X days, this user will be in the list of athletes I need to check-in with.

I think it would be cool if there was an option when they checked in on the Coachboard, it displayed a large, almost full-screen version of this for a few seconds or until someone else hits a keyboard button or clicks the mouse to check-in.
Our team is currently in the midst of developing this to update our Mailchimp integration. Keep an eye out for a release in the new year!
It would be amazing if Wodify let you create a list of email lists and then for each athlete profile, you could select which lists to add the athlete to. So I have a email list in Mail Chimp for my coaches. I have another for the athletes interested in competing. I have another for parents who bring their kids to the gym, And another for parents interested in CF Kids. Another list for athletes interested in work trade. And another for athletes interested in a diet challenges. If I could manage all these lists from Wodify, it would save me a ton of time.

We hope to implement the ability to enter weightlifting sets by early 2018.
We will definitely look to address the concept of differentiating between scaling options rather than just an overall ‘scaled’. Unfortunately for many workouts there are multiple variations for scaling each movement (ie instead of pullups they did ring rows, or used a green band, or a red band, etc)… or they did the pullups Rx and scaled the weight or movement.
Ultimately for many workouts it adds more complexity for the athletes. That being said, we are making changes to the performance tracking side in the near future and they may touch on this topic.
Thanks for the feedback on this. We are looking to add a feature that will auto-sign athletes into class once they are at the gym. Once this feature is released, your athletes will not need to manually sign in on their end.
Yeah I think some people would be stoked on not having to remember to bring their card to swipe or remember to swipe it. When is the app coming out? But what about for folks who do not have a smart phone? They still need to sign in by typing their name?

Much of this can be accomplished with the built in Point of Sale and Self-Service Point of Sale. However we are looking to optimize this process further.
